The Hardenberg Castle ruins

The 1000-year old castle ruins are the backdrop for fairytale stories. On the one-hour castle guided tour the guests embark on a journey through time into the past. One of the historic vaults is today the registry office. Every once in a while the fort ruins are romantically illuminated for concerts and exhibitions.

At the foot of the historic fort ruins is the Hardenberg KeilerLand with the Gräflich von Hardenberg‘sche distillery, where the spirit is still made to this very day, the rustic Hardenberg KeilerSchaenke restaurant, the KeilerLaden shop and the romantic castle park. There are regular celebrations or classic concerts held in the Hardenberg Atrium. Every year in the riding arena an internationally cast show-jumping event takes place: the Hardenberg Castle Tournament.

True to the motto “Geschichte trifft Genuss” (History meets taste) visitors can not only enjoy a guided tour through the historic castle ruins, but also look around the Gräflich von Hardenberg‘sche distillery. Or it is also possible to go on a cosy trip with a horse and covered cart through the countryside.

The Castle park

Visitors meander through the vast castle park on winding paths past the pond, meadows and trees. Now and again you can see proud horses in the middle of the park. The inhabited Hardenberg Castle stands impressively on the edge of the castle park and can be admired from afar. The Hardenberg also gains points in the art & culture world: different exhibitions are on the schedule of the castle park, like the „Klassika“ – Festival for garden art and lifestyle or Art in the Park – changing sculpture exhibition. In winter a section of the park transforms into an ice paradise. The 1200 m² large Hardenberg ice rink is the biggest in the region.

Gräflicher Landsitz Hardenberg

The Hardenberg is the home of the wellknown spirits with the boar head. Natural, typical and steeped in tradition. The distinctive boar head is also a symbol for the tourist umbrella brand: Gräflicher Landsitz Hardenberg. It unites the Relais & Châteaux Hardenberg BurgHotel, the nearby Hardenberg GolfResort and the Hardenberg KeilerLand with its events.
