Cultural and technical superlatives

Giant cruise liners are built in the dockyards of the famous Meyer Werft shipbuilding company. Every year, more than 500 million plants leave the vast greenhouses of the Emsflower park. A visitor centre provides detailed facts and figures about the technology behind the Transrapid magnetic levitation monorail and you can admire the world’s largest steam-driven plough in the Emsland Moor Museum.

Visitors to Emsland are invited to view superlative technical achievements, all of which are open to the public. Grain schnapps distilleries, like Berentzen-Hof and Rosche open their doors and invite visitors to take a tour of the factory and sample the products.

Culture and history lovers will love Emsland. Unmissable attractions include Clemenswerth, the only surviving star-shaped baroque hunting lodge in the world; megalithic tombs more than 4,000 years old, wreathed in mystery and legend; and the largest moor museum (including raised bogs and a moorland railway).
