In the easternmost part of Niedersachsen you will discover the spectacular landscapes of the biosphere reserve Elbtalaue (Elbe Valley Meadows) and the nature reserve Elbhöhen-Wendeland – a range of wooded hills along the Elbe river.
Rich and varied landscapes, including the Elbe water meadows, marshland, heath and moorland, a mix of deciduous and coniferous forests, along with the Geest heathland and the hills of the Dramwehnhöhenzug, are waiting to be discovered by you by bike, on horseback or on foot.
Historic half-timbered towns like Hitzacker, Dannenberg and Lüchow form part of the “German Half-Timbered Houses Route” together with the Wendland’s unique round villages. These historic towns and villages as well as the predominantly rural landscape give this region its unique character. Here you can relax, unwind and enjoy a gentle pace of life.
