Gästehaus Bad Bevensen is located in a quiet location on the edge of woodland in the spa town of Bad Bevensen in the Lüneburger Heide. Generous rooms, a sun deck and a beautiful woodland garden ensure a relaxing holiday in an elegant atmosphere. The guest house's excellent kitchen offers a generous breakfast and dinner buffet. There is also an extensive programme of leisure and cultural activities.

The hotel is designed to be completely accessible for wheelchair users and meets the needs of people with physical disabilities. For relaxation, there is a spa area with organic sauna, sauna, steam bath, relaxation rooms, sports room and physiotherapy practice. The hotel offers single and double rooms, all with a telephone, television and emergency call button. Where personal care is needed, the hotel can put guests in contact with a mobile nursing service in Bad Bevensen.

The guest house is ideal for guests with physical disabilities, wheelchair users and the elderly. Groups are also welcome. The building has several seminar and group rooms and is part of the Fürst Donnersmarck-Stiftung organisation (FDS). FDS acts as a partner for people with disabilities as they take part in all aspects of life.


Information for wheelchair users and people with walking impairments

  • There are outdoor parking spaces for people with disabilities and an underground car park (350 cm x 500 cm).
  • There is step free access to the building (ramp with 6.7% incline) and to all rooms used by guests (lifts).
  • The lift cars measure min. 104 cm x 209 cm – min. 140 cm x 200 cm in two lifts – and have a horizontal operating panel.
  • Doors and passages are at least 88 cm wide (exception: bathroom doors in some rooms).
  • There is an equal option for communication from a seated position next to the reception desk.
  • Wheelchair-suitable tables are available in the restaurant/breakfast room and fireside bar.
  • Some rooms (109, 203, 204, 215, 216, 228, 320, 351, 352) have turning spaces measuring less than 120 cm x 120 cm, some are at least 150 cm x 150 cm; the turning spaces differ from room to room.


  • Aids available: Sauna wheelchairs, wheelchairs, walking frames, nursing bed.

Disabled toilets

  • WCs are accessible from at least one side.
  • Fold-up grab rails are provided on both sides.
  • The wash basin is partially wheelchair-suitable and the mirror can be seen from sitting and standing positions.
  • Emergency call buttons are provided.

Information for the deaf and hearing impaired

  • There is no induction loop. Knocks on the room door are not displayed with a visual signal.
  • There is at least one free socket close to the bed in each room.
  • WiFi, fax and other technical options for communication with the service staff are available free of charge or can be provided on request.
  • Any emergency call in some lifts is confirmed with a visual alarm. Stairs are also available.

Restaurant/breakfast room, fireside bar

  • Tables with bright and non-glare lighting are available.
  • There are tables with no standing or hanging lamps that could impede the line of sight or eye contact.
  • There are tables with low ambient noise. There is electro-acoustic sound, but this can be switched off/adjusted.

Information for the blind and partially sighted

  • There is no guidance system with floor indicators inside or outside.
  • The entrance area is in visual and tactile contrast to the surroundings.
  • Some of the internal stairs have visually contrasting marking on the steps. Lifts are also available (stopping point is not announced audibly).
  • There are rooms with visually contrasting and tactile operating elements.
  • Assistance dogs are permitted.
  • Signs are designed in an easy-to-read, visually contrasting font.
  • No information is available in Braille or prism font.
  • Aids available: Reading aids.

Information for people with cognitive impairments

  • The name and logo of the hotel are clearly recognisable from outside.
  • The reception is directly visible from the entrance.
  • No information is provided in simple language or with pictograms or pictures.
  • There is no guidance system using colours or pictures.
  • The dishes are presented visibly in the restaurant/breakfast room and fireside bar.
  • A business card with the address and telephone number of the hotel is displayed visibly at reception.
